Welcome to the SIL Ethiopia Website

SIL Ethiopia is a non-profit organization committed to serving language communities in Ethiopia to build capacity for sustainable language development.  We make our services available to all, without regard to religious belief, political ideology, gender, race or ethnolinguistic background.

SIL Ethiopia was founded in 1973 as a non-profit organization.  In 2015, the ministry department of SIL Ethiopia was registered independently as SIL AIM.  Both branches are members of SIL International.

SIL Ethiopia is involved in language and education development in Ethiopia. We do this primarily through linguistic activities, translation, training, and material development.
